You will love this gluten-free chocolate mug cake!
This cake has become my favorite 9:00 p.m. fast and easy treat. And it is so satisfying!
It’s as easy as mixing up a few ingredients, pour the batter into a mug, and cooking in the microwave.
Upon return from a recent trip, I thought how perfect this mug cake would be. The hotel room had mugs, spoons, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. With a grocery store down the street, this would have been the perfect snack! Next time!
How To Make This Paleo Chocolate Mug Cake:
Step 1 – Gather and measure the ingredients (exact measurement found below on printable recipe card).
Step 2 – In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the dry ingredients and whisk them together. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the wet ingredients and whisk to combine.
Step 3 – Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir to combine to create a batter.
Step 4 – Pour batter into a mug of choice.
Step 5 – Put the mug in the microwave and cook for approximately 60 seconds (will vary depending on the microwave used).
Step 6 – Garnish with dairy-free ice cream, coconut whipped cream, sliced fruit, berries, shaved chocolate, etc… I let this cool a little, but it’s so good warm with melting ice cream. Sometimes, I make a smaller batch of this dairy-free ganache as icing.
Tips When Making The Paleo Chocolate Mug Cake:
- Although you can mix the batter in the mug, I prefer mixing in separate small bowls as I am sure to mix it well.
- Try to have all ingredients at room temperature.
- Use a smaller sized mug for best results. I’m using a dessert-sized mug here.
- The mug cake could take anywhere from 45 seconds to 2 minutes depending on your microwave. It may take some adjustment to get the right cooking time.
- Let the cake sit for a minute after it comes out of the microwave as it can be very hot.
