Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, is a tropical fruit with either bright pink flesh with or white flesh.
It has a mild flavor, so your smoothie will taste most like the fruits and veggies you add.

How To Make A Dragon Fruit Smoothie:
Step 1 – Gather and measure the ingredients.
Tip: Frozen dragon fruit (pitaya) smoothie packs are available at grocery stores in the freezer section and are convenient and economical. Just cut open the packet, and scoop the fruit out (as shown in the photo below).
I also found a package of frozen dragon fruit chunks, which would work as well.
Harder to find is fresh pink dragon fruit and at this writing, it is pricier than the frozen fruit.
Step 2- Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend for a minute or two until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
Enjoy in a smoothie bowl or pour into a glass and drink. See smoothie and smoothie bowl tips further down the post (below).
How Do You Make A Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowl?
- Make the dragon fruit smoothie, but make sure it is thick (ice cream texture).
- Pour into a bowl.
- Add toppings like fresh berries, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, chia seeds, cacao nibs, hemp seeds, etc…

Tips and Substitutions:
- Dragon fruit smoothie with almond milk; you could substitute another non-dairy milk.
- Dragon fruit smoothie packs are convenient and found in the freezer section of the grocery store. You could use frozen dragon fruit chunks or fresh dragon fruit cut in chunks in this smoothie.
- If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more liquid (water or dairy-free milk). If the smoothie is too thin, add more frozen fruits or ice.
- Swap out the fruits used for what you have on hand. (E.g. Pineapple for mango, orange for strawberry, blueberries, etc..).
- Throw in some fresh or frozen spinach for added veggies.
- Add some honey or maple syrup if the smoothie is not sweet enough for you.

- 1/2 cup frozen dragon fruit (1 frozen packet, remove from the packet and cut into pieces for easier blending).
- 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1 banana (cut into chunks)
- 1/2 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 5 frozen strawberries (sliced in half)

Place in a blender and blend for about 2 minutes until completely smooth.
