Summer in New England/24 Carrot Kitchen

    Coast of Rhode Island

Summer in New England is a beautiful place.  There is a lot to do, mountains, beaches, cities, etc…  Recently, we spent some time on the coast of Connecticut.  From there we drove up the coast to Narragansett, Rhode Island.  The weather and day were summer picture perfect.

In CT, we spent some time in Stonington Point and ate at a seafood restaurant with a wonderful water view and outdoor deck called Skippers Dock.  They had the most delicious calamari appetizer.  It must have also appeared tasty because another patron sauntered over to our table and asked if she could have a taste!  We were not sure if she was kidding, but apparently, she wasn’t.  At this point, I looked around for anyone resembling John Quinones. (ha!)

In Narragansett, the next day, we ate at another outdoor seafood place, The Coast Guard House, which was right on the water as well.  There is a view of the water in the above photo.  It was a little windy on the outdoor covered deck, but we enjoyed ourselves.  Parking is tight on busy days in this town, and read signs carefully about where parking is permitted.  If you don’t see a sign at all, find another place to park.  I tell you this from experience as I hold a yellow ticket in my hand.

Are you looking for a great book to read this summer?  A few weeks ago, I asked readers if they had any recommendations for books.  Someone recommended A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff.   I immediately picked it up from the library and dove in.  I recommend it highly!  Being an avid reader, not all books hold my interest, but this one did.  I had to find out what would happen next.  It would be a great beach read.

Growing up on the east end of Long Island, summer was also about ice cream.   Here’s a great, creamy, “ice cream” to try.  It’s vegan and healthier than most ice cream –  peanut butter chocolate chip ice cream.  It’s one of my favorites.

This week my daughter, Megan is spending time with her friend Mary and her family at their beach house at the shore.  From the reports I am hearing, they are having a great time.  Naturally, it has been a little quieter around the house and Dino, our basset hound seems to be missing his big sister.

    Miss you Lil’ Darling!!

    How is your summer going?

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

I love your pictures. It sounds like you’re having an amazing time. I love the New England area. I live in CT, so I may be partial. 😉
