These parsnip fries bake up slightly sweet, peppery and crispy. They are a great alternative to traditional potato french fries and are super easy to make!
The parsnip is shaped like and looks a lot like a white carrot.
For this recipe, you will want to peel your parsnips, then cut them into pieces all the same size, in thin strips, in “french fry” shapes. Then place them in a medium sized bowl, toss with the other ingredients, place on the baking sheet and bake until crispy. Super simple!
Below are the prepared parsnips ready to go into the oven. It is best to flip them in the baking pan, mid way through the baking process so they brown on all sides.
Although I am comparing these parsnips to traditional potato french fries, and there are similarities, there are some differences as well. They don’t get quite as crispy, and, of course, have a different taste. I find them awesome and delicious!
In the below photo, the parsnips on the baking pan right out of the oven.
These parsnip fries are best served hot right out of the oven. Eat as is or serve with your favorite dipping sauce. They would make an awesome side to most entrees or would be great as a snack.
Enjoy!

- pound One parsnips. I bought a one pound bag that had about 4 large parsnips.
- 2 tablespoons olive oil I used extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. and line a baking sheet pan with parchment paper.
-
Peel and slice parsnips into french fry like pieces.
-
In a medium sized bowl add the sliced parsnips. To this, add the olive oil, salt and pepper and toss the coating with the parsnips, mixing well.
-
Place parsnips on the baking sheet in rows and if possible so they are not touching (like example photo).
-
Bake for 25-35 minutes until browned.
-
Serve and enjoy!

I love parsnip fries! Sometimes I like to mix parsnips and carrots so you get the pepper parsnips and the slightly sweet carrots, mmm. Looks like your version turned out great!
Christine
Oh, I love the mix of carrots and parsnips!
