  1. Step 1:  Wash and dry the mango.

  2. Step 2:  Using a sharp knife, hold the mango straight up and cut one side off. See the photos below in the post. Beware that the mango has a core.

  3. Step 3:  Repeat by cutting the other side off.

  4. Step 4:  Then cut the shorter other two sides off as shown in photos in the post.

  5. Step 5:  To scoop the mango out, you can use a small glass and slide it under the mango flesh and scoop it.  You'll see in the photos in the post about how the solid piece of mango ends up in the glass.  It's really easy as the mango was ripe.

  6. It's best to consume the fresh mango right away, but it can be store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a few days.

Recipe Notes

How to choose a mango?

  • You'll want to start with ripe mango.
  • If you buy a hard mango, let it sit for a few days until it softens up.  Ripe mangoes usually have a pleasant fruity scent.  An overripe mango will be very squishy.

  • You can also use a tool called a mango splitter to cut a mango.
  • Store your mango fruit in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to a few days.  It's best consumed fresh and right away.
