Ingredients

  • 1 6 ounce can or jar organic tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup coconut vinegar (substitute apple cider vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 8 pitted dates
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1/4 garlic powder
  • 1/4 onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup water (save water from soaking dates)

Instructions

  1. Place dates in a heat resistant bowl and add boiling/hot water to cover them.  Soak for ten minutes and then drain, saving the water to use in this recipe.

  2. Add all ingredients (except water) to a food processor (or blender) and process until smooth and creamy.

  3. Add enough date water to get the right consistency.

  4. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a few weeks.

Recipe Notes

Helpful Tips:

  • Use pitted dates (vs. with pits).  I use regular pitted dates or Medjool dates; both work.
  • All you'll need is a small food processor to mix.  It's a perfect size.
  • Use mason jar (or any glass jars) to store in the refrigerator.
