Having fond memories of picking fresh strawberries, I find strawberries make the most delicious smoothie reminiscent of my favorite milkshakes. But with much healthier clean simple ingredients and valuable sought-after antioxidants.
Looking for a strawberry smoothie without yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or strawberry yogurt?
I pondered the ingredients that would be needed to create the ultimate creaminess, and that would also satisfy even the pickiest person and is perfect for the whole family. Oh yes!
Making Your Strawberry Banana Smoothie:
Step 1 – Gather and measure the ingredients. (see tips & substitutions below)
I usually purchase a big bag of organic frozen strawberries at the grocery store for ease in making smoothies. Plus, it’s a great way to be more cost-effective.
Slice the banana into about one-inch pieces.
Step 2- Add all the ingredients to a blender. Find the exact ingredient list in the recipe card at the bottom of this blog post.
Step 3 – Blend the ingredients until smooth with a creamy texture. This should take about one minute depending on your blender speed and intensity.
Step 4 – Pour into a glass or other container and for best results enjoy immediately. This classic strawberry smoothie yields two cups, which is one larger smoothie for one serving or two smaller smoothies for two servings.

Vegan Strawberry Banana Smoothie Tips and Substitutions:
- I find the best way to make this smoothie is to use frozen fruit. So if you have fresh berries, then use frozen banana or vice versa. This will yield a delicious frosty thickness.
- For a thicker smoothie, add a handful of ice or a few ice cubes. You could also add a tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter to thicken.
- Add more liquid (dairy-free milk, whole milk) if the smoothie is too thick.
- For a strawberry banana smoothie recipe without milk, simply replace the milk with water, coconut water or another liquid such as juice.
- A high-speed blender (high-powered blender), immersion blender, and portable blender are great tools for any smoothie recipe.
- You can use any milk, for example, almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk. You can use dairy milk; whole milk (cow’s milk), but the smoothie won’t be dairy-free.
- To make a green smoothie, add a handful of spinach.
- Use any ripe banana.
- Vanilla extract is optional, or to taste.
- If out of your favorite fruit, you may substitute another frozen berry of your choice.
- The smoothie has plenty of sweetness from the berries, so you do not need to add any sugar, maple syrup, or fruit juice such as orange juice. But, if you have a sweet tooth, add it according to your taste.
- This simple strawberry smoothie recipe or leftover smoothie can be stored in the refrigerator for later (but best used within the same day).
- Boost your smoothie by adding some hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, and some greens such as spinach, extra berries, or fresh fruit.

Do you strawberries have to be frozen or can you use normal ones.

Hi Ella, You can use any strawberries. I like to have at least one frozen item in my smoothies so they are cold and thick.
